A recommendation from satisfied clients is the greatest affirmation. These detailed stories were chosen to illustrate a range of issues, and a range of initial client confidence (or lack thereof) in EFT and energy work.
Lifelong rider injured in bad fall
I grew up on a ranch in Texas and rode all my life. A few years ago I had three falls from my horse and the last one landed me in the hospital. Afterward I couldn’t bring myself to ride my horse again. After many months of struggle I finally sold him. I then bought a mare with a lovely disposition, but couldn’t ride her without fear. I was so totally frustrated by all the ‘brain freeze’ over even the smallest things.
Then I read an article describing EFT and the freeze and discharge response. It was like a light in the darkness. Soon after starting EFT with Betsy I could see differences. I remember my first ride when things felt different in a big way. I heard every footstep, heard the sand crunch beneath my mare’s hooves, really felt my leg on her side. I’d been so focused on the external, the ‘what if the tractor sets my horse off,’ that I’d lost awareness of the horse beneath me. Those things hadn’t even been registering with me. I was so alive again, so aware of my mare that it was almost foreign to me.
That was the beginning of my EFT experience. From there it just got better. I now ride with confidence again, I have the ability to respond to any situation, and use my knowledge. I can feel my horse and can focus and not worry about the ‘what ifs.’ Betsy and EFT brought joy and passion back to riding. I can’t say enough about the process. It has changed my life. EFT is truly amazing and I’ve continued to practice it ever since. ~Amy Thompson
Years of failure with traditional confidence rebuilding methods
I had a string of falls, including three concussions, and lost all riding confidence. For several years I tried every confidence-building tip, trick, and training that I could find – read every book, took lessons, did clinics, practiced visualization, did calming exercises in and out of the saddle. But it really all boiled down to a mix between “cowboy up and get back on,” and “keep on doing it until it gets better,” and neither was working for me.
I was about to give up when I learned about EFT. I was intrigued by the science behind it, but was extremely skeptical about the ‘if you just tap on your face enough times, you’ll be able to ride again’ part. But at that point I didn’t have anything to lose.
Betsy was amazing. She is very easy to talk to, really listens to your issues, and is incredibly thorough in helping get to the bottom of the problem.
Before EFT, I would usually stop at a gas station on the way to my riding lesson to throw up, because I would get so nervous. After just ONE session with Betsy, I was able to skip that little pit stop. My trainer noticed the difference right away. Little things that would send me into a full on anxiety attack before, just didn’t anymore. I remember the first time I experienced having my horse spook (which was a huge issue for me) and me laughing about it! I think that was the biggest milestone for me, and something I will never forget.
EFT is not an overnight process, and you have to put in work on your own to get the most out of it. But it works. There are still some little things that come up for me from time to time, but Betsy teaches you how the method works, so that you can continue to help yourself even once your sessions are over. Plus, I know she’s always there if something big comes up. I tell everyone I meet about my experiences with EFT. I have gone from skeptic to firm believer! ~Bethany Buschkill
Two life-threatening falls
At the time I learned about EFT I had been struggling with my confidence in riding for several years. I’d had two bad falls from my “soulmate horse” – in one my horse did a complete somersault, in the other he fell on the road, pinning me under him. I still wanted to ride, badly, but I was afraid and couldn’t enjoy it anymore.
I didn’t know what to expect with EFT, and was skeptical initially. But I found Betsy’s explanations about how traumatic experiences can continue to affect us long after they happen to be very compelling.
I was surprised when she asked me to go back in time and produce a list of every really scary memory I had involving horses. I thought we’d be dealing with the most recent falls and hadn’t even considered that childhood memories of a runaway pony or trying to keep up with my gutsy best friend were still affecting me.
As we worked our way through the list, Betsy helped me go into the memories and get at the visceral experience of feeling out of control, of not wanting to show any fear, and of an equestrian culture that pushes you to immediately get back on a horse that just threw you off, no matter what. I was surprised at the details and the feelings that came back, and we worked with them until the memories became just “things that happened.”
I discovered that there were some other strong emotions besides fear involved in my loss of confidence. For example, a lot of unprocessed grief from the loss of my first horse began to surface, and Betsy guided me gently and compassionately through even the most difficult aspects of his death.
Along the way, I began to have new insights about myself, my horses, and our relationships. A better connection with my horses is not something I expected to gain from EFT, but I now realize how my anxiety in the saddle was negatively affecting my horse and our communication.
I’m deeply grateful to Betsy and would recommend her as an EFT practitioner to anyone dealing with fear related to riding! ~ Leila Strickland
Terrible ground injury
I was giving my horse some oral medication (no problem previously) when he spun and kicked me in the head. I woke up on the ground with my horse standing over me, as if wondering what I was doing there. At the hospital, I was told that I had a broken jaw, nose, eye socket, crushed sinus, and a full thickness tear from my upper lip to my nose, and, later, teeth and eye issues, and mild (a misleading label!) brain injury.
Before then, I could do anything with my horses. Seven months later (I no longer had that horse), I could still barely be near horses on the ground and riding was out of the question. I came to EFT very skeptical, but it has given me a way to work with what otherwise seemed like an impossible tangle of trauma, when you factor in all the post-accident symptoms, and ongoing medical treatment, much of which has been traumatic in itself.
I’ve learned that some earlier-life, non-riding trauma has been a contributing factor in my now-chronic tension, and dealing with that has been part of my EFT work. My progress is gradual, because of how much I’m dealing with. But after four sessions I can now be in the paddock with the horses, which was a CANNOT DO. And a bigger deal is that I have become able once again to give oral meds, something that felt completely, NO-WAY-undoable before. Those things may not seem like much, but they’re a big deal to me.
Another interesting thing is that my osteopath wanted me to let Betsy know that our work is having a significant impact on my physical being, too. During my most recent treatment she couldn’t believe how relaxed and open my body was to treatment, when the last time I’d seen her (4 weeks prior), she said I was so tight she was afraid to do too much.
I continue to deal with the complexity of my healing journey, and I know it will be a gradual process, but EFT has given me a way to work with the trauma. ~ Jowellyn Neville
Dismounting accident at age 60
I had an accident dismounting from my sensible mare, and my face and ribs slammed into the round pen rail. I was 60 years old and a lifelong rider. After a short recovery I resumed riding, but I was shaky, short of breath, and timid with my horse.
I read about dealing with anxiety after riding accidents and it was good information and advice, but I couldn’t make it work for me. I hid my discomfort from others, but riding wasn’t fun anymore and I looked for reasons to avoid it. After a year of pretending I wasn’t having any problems riding, I panicked and dismounted on a trail ride and was unable to remount. I admitted my anxieties to my husband and we agreed I would seek help.
What kind of help, though? Lessons? Trainer? Medication? Hypnosis? I spent 35 years as a psychiatric nurse. When a respected colleague had shared in 2008 how he was using EFT in his practice, I was skeptical. But I saw a reference to it on a blog for nervous riders and decided to look into it. I consulted Betsy via Skype and she explained that she suspected my difficulties were not due only, or even mostly, to my most recent accident, but to a string of horse-related mishaps (none of them earth-shattering) that had never been processed.
With the insight of a fellow rider, Betsy guided me to explore these events, using EFT to bring out the physical and emotional memories. We approached the events chronologically, and as she had predicted, the most recent event resolved quickly. I am riding again, and enjoying it!
It takes years to conduct research, but now the evidence is mounting that EFT is an effective, science-based modality for addressing trauma. Betsy brings a wealth of knowledge to her practice. She is not only well-grounded in EFT and highly intuitive but a wonderful human being. And EFT has been well worth the time and money I spent to reclaim my confidence and joy in the saddle! ~ Lynn Casado

Chronic health issues, anxiety, sleep
I had worked with two other EFT practitioners and was not seeing the results I was expecting and hoping for with my complex case. When I started working with Betsy, I had been struggling with sleep and anxiety issues for the better part of eight years. Betsy has superb EFT practitioner skills and I found her intuition to be highly accurate, which greatly facilitated getting at and clearing some of the issues and aspects that I was not even aware of. She is very knowledgeable about the metaphysical universe, and I found her knowledge of the latest science on the mind, body, and healing to be both impressive and refreshing.
I also had other serious underlying health issues including a dangerously low white blood cell count that had gone on for 2+ years. Since starting my EFT sessions with Betsy, my white blood cell count has more than doubled, putting me far back into the safe zone. Another surprising benefit from the EFT has been that my body is now starting to produce hormones again that it had stopped producing due to years of high levels of stress. I had been using hormone replacement therapy for eight years and was told by three different doctors that once your body stops producing these hormones, it doesn’t start back up again. Over the past eight years the dosage of this hormone replacement Rx has had to increase several times, but just recently was cut by 1/3 due to the fact that the level of that hormone in my body had doubled.
Working with Betsy has been an extremely positive experience. She clearly loves what she does and it shows. ~ David Burke
Long-standing patterns of negativity
My gratitude for the work I have done with Betsy is immense As a therapist and after being in therapy for many years off and on, the EFT work I have done with Betsy has had extraordinary results. A whole lifetime of periods of negativity, anxiety, helplessness and hopelessness is dissipating.
Betsy’s generosity, ability to stay very present to the process, her depth and attention to her own intuitive ‘knowings,’ her very responsibly reviewing the content of our sessions and tracking them, her spiritual/metaphysical framework as well as her knowledge of EFT have also been extraordinary. I can’t speak highly enough of this life-transforming experience! ~ MK, New Jersey
Fear of public speaking
My experience with Betsy was wonderful. She was prompt, caring, and focused during each of our sessions. I have struggled with public speaking for as long as I can remember, and I was willing to try anything. Working with someone who understood my pain and frustration put me at ease, right off the bat.
Betsy was able to lay the groundwork with me and walk me through the process of doing EFT. Together, we were able to uncover key things from my childhood that were affecting my confidence, things that I had no idea were still with me. Through tapping, Betsy was able to help me erase those internal thoughts and those feelings that had woven their way through my life, stealing my confidence.
Work meetings are so much better for me now. I can speak with ease instead of hearing my voice shake and feeling my heart beat out of control. I’m comfortable in my skin. When I interview people, I feel in control and like a leader should. I’m in charge of the interview and I’m totally at ease…something I’d never experienced prior to EFT. I would highly recommend Betsy – she can really tap into finding and erasing the negative energy. ~ C.B., Pennsylvania
Lifelong patterns, chronic health issues
Betsy,
You have helped me more in the past 8 months than anyone has in my five decades of life. I have tried every type of traditional and non-traditional therapy out there, a vast variety of tapes, books, mediation, and even hypnosis, and nothing has provided me with the permanent change, peace of mind, the powerful feeling of continuous growth, and amazingly constant positivity. Through our work together, I have experienced dramatic healing of past traumas, physical ailments, and changes in my own character that I have struggled to realize and change my whole life.
For a very long time I have felt like I was crouched in the corner with a shield to ward off the world and all the evils of life. Now I feel I am standing confident in the center of the room. I don’t feel afraid, I don’t feel powerless, I feel energized and excited by all types of possibilities, things I haven’t felt since I was a child. I feel wonder and a clear, open-mind to experience whatever comes next.
I cannot begin to convey my deep thanks and appreciation for all you have done for me and the changes you helped bring about in my life. It has not only affected me in a positive light, but also those around me.
~ Dawna, New Hampshire
Inability to move forward with career goals
I have been working with Betsy for several months. I immediately felt at ease working with her. Her approach is professional yet personal and non-judgmental. Other EFT practitioners I have worked with before never quite got the essence of what I am experiencing like Betsy has been able to do. She has helped me greatly to do some deep healing work around issues with my family. Also she has been wonderful helping me to dissolve blocks that are in the way of creating the business of my dreams. I am on the right path with Betsy! ~ Kathy Castrigno
Chronic health issues
A few months prior to meeting Betsy, I heard about EFT for the first time but really had no idea what to expect. My husband and I felt comfortable from the start. Betsy is very professional but so caring and kind at the same time. I was struggling for many years with worsening symptoms. It honestly seemed like our life was slowly, painfully slipping away. Almost as if we were digging ourselves into a deeper and deeper hole. We noticed positive changes after just the first week. Now that it has been several months, the difference is night and day and we have our lives back again. We are so thankful for Betsy and for EFT! So thankful that God brought both of them into our lives. ~ Elizabeth P., Oklahoma
Cyclical holiday depression, sleep
After working with three different therapists, I could not understand why I still had lingering negative emotions associated with events from my past — many of which were decades old. Each talk therapist brought me through the same regimen of talking and re-hashing issues from my past but it didn’t seem to resolve my most deep-seated negative emotions. A family member had been working with Betsy with great success for a few months and highly recommended that I contact her. I was leery of engaging yet again with someone new and even more hesitant to try a mode of therapy as unconventional looking as EFT, but I decided to give it a try.
After only one session, I knew that Betsy was the right person to help me finally release the negative emotions and blocks that I had been dealing with for so long. I’ve been working with Betsy for a few months and have made more progress with her in those few months than I did with the three previous therapists combined. She’s very well-versed in the EFT process and is a true professional. Her gentle nature makes working with her such a pleasure. And her intuitive abilities absolutely astound me — it’s as if she knows what I’m feeling even when I’m unable to put words to it, which is extremely helpful. I would highly recommend Betsy to anyone who needs help getting to (and clearing out) the root cause of their issues. ~ Lori B., Florida
Professional confidence issues
A significant piece to EFT is finding the nugget to tap on. Betsy is highly skilled at helping you find that nugget. Then, she takes you through the process of tapping and narrowing the spoken phrases down to address the specific emotions. Familial traits that I have demonstrated for 44 years have been cleared in single sessions. Triggers that would cause me to perseverate and leave me unable to work at my highest level have been cleared. Most importantly, through my work with Betsy, I have been able to build relationships with people who I once avoided due to negative internal messaging. I’m not one to proselytize but I’ve found myself telling others about EFT and Betsy. ~ LLN, Indiana
Chronic pain
EFT was suggested to me because I had been experiencing pain in my right hip and leg for several years, and in the previous six months the pain had been increasing. The condition I have was diagnosed via x-rays and MRI tests as lumbar stenosis. The pain was severe – for example, when standing at the bottom of a set of steps, lifting my right leg up to place it on the second step triggered enough pain to double me over.
I was initially very resistant to the idea of doing EFT. I’m open-minded but I couldn’t make sense of it, and fully expected that while it might help some people, I, personally, would see no benefits from ‘tapping.’ But I was on two pain meds that weren’t helping much, and I compete in dog agility and my dog had been invited to a national competition to represent his breed. I VERY much wanted to be able to participate in that event with my dog, so I decided to try EFT.
Betsy is a gentle, non-judgmental, supportive, person. She made me feel completely comfortable with all of my human failings, weaknesses, insecurities, etc. One hundred percent of the time, I felt understood, cared for, and supported.
The results of my work with Betsy doing the tapping were that I was fully able to compete with my dog at the event in question. I was able to run with ease and comfort and had no lingering pain. My friends who were there were aware of the pain I had been in and were AMAZED that I was able to RUN.
My severe pain started in the fall of 2013 – I did the national agility event on December 13-14, 2013, and to date (June 2014), my right hip remains completely pain-free. ~ M. Wiseman
